Money Grows on Trees Didn't you know?

Or in parents pockets. Whichever.

Koreans have set bans on studying hours (can't study after 10pm or have a chat with the Fuzz) and somehow they still come up with a shit load of money to shower their idols with gifts or simply to travel to their events.

Ever wonder what fans are spending on their idols?

Here is a look at a couple gifts fans have either purchased individually or through a fan page:

SNSD Jessica:

All from woorissica.com

Olympus Pen System Camera with both a 17mm and 14-42mm lens

Retail value for the camera is $ 800

Retail value for both lenses is $ 600

These were given to her as a birthday present along with channel products, designer headbands, a $ 90 dollars pair of headphones, a $700 Novation midi Keyboard and a $150 Esi Audio interface. (This website probably spent just under 3000 dollars. That's food for a year for me!)

SNSD Yuri:

Black Pearl Necklace (This is an estimated price based on the going rate of pearls. I assumed the pearl was Tahitian because it was sent with a certificate authenticating it from the Korean Pearl Laboratory.)

The retail price of the necklace is anywhere between $200-400 depending if the chain was silver or white gold.(I ain't no expert)

SUJU:

Fans have purchased stars for Leeteuk, Eunhyuk x2, Heechul and Donghae each for a retail price of approximately $150 before taxes (damn those things). All together it’s a whopping total of $750 dollars on stars alone. (Let me tell you something about the International Star Registry; they are a scam. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the organization that is responsible for naming celestial objects, and they don't take requests from anyone (even astronomers) for star names. So the star you buy ain’t technically named whatever it is you named it.)

Cakes seem to be a popular gift for Idols on their birthdays and random special events. Most of these cakes range from 1 to 5 tiers. Custom cakes can start at as much as $250 a tier and some stores start at $1000 for 3D cakes. (Pics: Sistar celebrated their 200th day, t-ara's Hyomin her 22nd birthday and Yonghwa turned 22th(?))

There was so many random gifts to choose from but I’ll finish with the one I actually think is useful for society a little creepy but perfectly reasonable. 30 MBLAQ fans decided they would donate blood instead of getting their idols a fancy cake for their first anniversary. Which means 30 packs of blood donated in the idols name and potentially 90 lives saved.

  1. Those kind of cakes taste so sickening sweet...the fondue is essentially just sugar. I really doubt idols even eat the cake. :/ What a waste.

  2. At least there's one k-pop fan group that has sense. Good job A+'s!

  3. My only problem with the A+ thing is that it shouldn't take an anniversary in order for a person to donate blood.

  4. what do you do? Apparently the only way to show that you are a true fan is to spend every last penny you get from your parents to support someone who has more money than you ever will (at-least for the more successful groups). I admit, it is interesting to see which fan-clubs are either dedicated enough or have enough people to afford this stuff but at the same time, it's also really sad. To gather up money to give someone, for free, stuff they can afford to buy on their own, while you yourself will probably never come into possession of it the item which you have just given them just makes me smh....but this is the world in which we live.

  10. @JK "Citrus" (fanclub I guess) did volunteer work at a seniors home and donated money to charity under her name. Soshified also donated money in her name to some food charity.
